Structural Characteristics
It is usually a high-density cable with multiple cores and multiple taps. Each core in the cable is connected to a tap, and the tap is connected to an electrode, thus realizing the connection between the electrode and the electrode switching device. Since each electrode is connected to the electrode switching device by an independent core, the number of cores must be greater than or equal to the number of electrodes.
Working Principle
In centralized high-density electrical method measurement, all electrodes are first placed at the measuring points, which are evenly distributed on the measuring line. Then, using the electrode switching device, according to the requirements of different testing methods, 2 electrodes are selected as transmitting electrodes for each single test to inject transmitting current into the ground, and at least 2 electrodes are used as receiving electrodes, which are switched into the testing host through the electrode switching device for testing and recording the test results. The centralized measurement electrical line connects each electrode to the electrode switching device, allowing current to conduct between the transmitting and receiving electrodes, while transmitting the potential difference and other signals detected by the measuring electrodes to the testing host for processing and recording.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages include simple cable structure, suitable for mass production, low cost, and easy maintenance. Disadvantages include that the longer the measured section, the more cables, and the more significant the increase in total cable length, making it unsuitable for longer section measurements; if high-density induced polarization testing is performed, due to the different nature of the transmitting and receiving electrodes, each tap requires two cores, doubling the number of cores, making the cable more complex and bulky.
Application Areas
It is mainly used in centralized high-density electrical prospecting, suitable for scenarios with relatively small exploration ranges, strict cost control, and high requirements for cable maintenance convenience, such as small-scale engineering geological surveys and shallow geological structure research.
